Akil H. Asantewa, 73, of Smithville Flats NY, passed away on Sunday,
October 9, 2016 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, NY. He was
born in New York City on Tuesday, October 5, 1943 and grew up in Buffalo,
NY. Akil was self-employed at APS Security Alarms and was the Chairman of
MBKBSI, a nonprofit organization he started. Surviving diabetes for 40
years and renal failure for 21 years he influenced and encouraged those
around him with his positive mental attitude. He was a dreamer and doer
who inspired many. His joys in life were his family, being helpful,
sitting in the sun, music, talking with people, The Buffalo Bills, soap
operas, westerns and cooking.
He is predeceased by his grandmother: Melrose Henderson, his mother and
father: Rev. Alberta Robinson, Bishop Robert LA Robinson Sr., and his
daughter Desiree Lynn Robinson.
He is survived by: His wife, Jelani K. Asantewa and ex-wife Bettye J.
Robinson. Children: Jeneane L Harris, Sherrese Pitts, Iryan Keith Robinson
and Masai A. Asantewa. Grandchildren: Joyce Robinson, Joshua Pitt,
Mindelle Smith, Nehemiah Pitt, Solomon Pitt, Neana Harris. Sisters:
Ernestine Grooms, Anita Ortiz. Brothers: Rev. Robert LA Robinson Jr,
Harrell Bonner and beloved aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces and nephews...
