Alfred Donald Schultes

Alfred Donald “Donnie” Schultes of Coventry, NY passed away on May 1, 2019 at Lourdes Hospital following a short illness. He was born on December 3, 1939 in Afton, NY the son of Neven and Mary Schultes who pre-deceased him along with his younger brother Neven.  Donnie married Patricia Irene Willes on December 10, 1961 at the Afton Methodist Church by the reverend Jose’ Valencia.  He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years and his four sons – Alan (Cindy) of Tebbetts, MO – Bruce (Laura) of Corinth, TX – Jeff (Sharon) of Dover, DE – Daron (Jackie) of Coventry, NY. Also Grandchildren Jacob, Nicholas, Madison, Baylor & Caleb as well as as several Step-Grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sisters Arlene, Anna, Rosemary and Marge. Two brothers Albert (Marie) and Robert. Also several nieces, nephews, aunts & cousins. 
Donnie graduated from Afton Central School and was employed by the Raymond Corporation in Greene, NY for over 35 years. He retired in 2002 and enjoyed traveling in his motorhome and attending Bluegrass festivals. He loved old tyme country music and round and square dancing. He was a great believer in volunteer service.He was a little league coach, cub scout and webelo leader, volunteer firefighter and first responder for the Coventry Fire Company, Raymond softball league and volunteering at the PENNY (PA/NY) Bluegrass Festivals. 
He was known for his quick wit, being a jokester, and for always having the last word. He was a jack of all trades and would help anyone in need. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grand-children and his beloved dog “Angel”.
 
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday May 6, 2019 at the Coventryville Congregational Church located on County Road 27 in Coventryville. The Church will open at 4:00 pm with the service starting at 5:00 pm. Light refreshments will be served following the service in the gathering hall at the church.  Anyone wishing to make a donation in Don’s memory may do so to the Coventry Community Events Committee at 1839 State Hwy 235, Greene NY 13778 or the Coventry Volunteer Fire Company at 109 North Road, Greene NY 13778.
