Dewitt M. (Dewey) Bouton, 89, of Okeechobee, FL, formerly of Harpursville, NY went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 18, 2017.  The youngest of four children born to Leonard and Bessie Bouton, Dewey graduated from Binghamton Central School and married his high school sweetheart, Vivian Banks.  After serving in WWII, Dewey and Vivian raised four children in the home they built together in Harpursville, NY.  Dewey and Viv founded and operated the Sweet Shop Soda Fountains in Sidney and Unadilla, NY and later founded and operated Bouton's Dairy in Harpursville.  Dewey later drove over-the-road tractor trailer for Crowley's Dairy Company in Binghamton during the summer and Armellini and Walpole in Okeechobee, FL during the winter.

Dewey served on the Vestry of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Harpursville and later became a member of North Fenton Methodist Church, Chenango Forks and First United Methodist Church of Okeechobee.  He was also a member of the Lions Club in Greene, NY and assisted The Salvation Army in their fundraising efforts.

Our Dad was an entrepreneur, a builder, a mechanic, a gardener, a lumberjack, an award winning bowler, a fixer of all things and a darn good cook.  But above all he was a loving Son, Brother, Husband, Father and Grandfather. We will be forever grateful for the wonderful lives he gave us, the unconditional love he showed us and the ethics he instilled in us.

Dewey is predeceased by his parents; his loving wife of 58 years, Vivian Banks Bouton; brother Bob; and sister Eleanor Gumaer.  He is survived by his sister Grace Perry, Johnson City, NY; his children Duane (Donna) Bouton, Lakeland, FL; Sherry (Brian) Evans, Harpursville, NY; Bruce (Becky) Bouton, King, NC; Lugene (Lisa) Bouton/Roma, Melbourne, FL; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3 at 11:00 AM at North Fenton Cemetery, Route 79, Chenango Forks, NY.  Family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Friends may express condolences online at www.SavageFS.com.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the North Fenton Methodist Church, 2 Brookside Lane, Chenango Forks, NY 13746. Arrangements are by Savage-DeMarco Funeral Service 1605 Witherill St. Endicott, NY 13760.
