Where do you even start when you lose one of your best friends in life. It all started when I was about 7 years old. Joe helped me build a step stool in the wood shop at the Boy's Club. He forever reminded me that he felt sorry for me because I showed up at the Club everyday wearing my Cub Scout uniform. Little did I know that years later we would become good friends after he got out of the Air Force and came back to the Boy's Club. Joe became a mentor to so many young kids, but he really took Red Smith and myself under his wing and watched over us. Being from the part of town we were from, that had a huge influence on us. I have so many fond stories tied to Joe, that I could write for a week. Some of our best adventures were: Red and I visiting Joe at George Williams College out near Chicago. We also visited Joe while he was working at the Milwaukee Boy's & Girl's Club. We went on so many Club trips (Canada, NYS Fair, Yankees Games, etc...) Joe was the only friend from home that visited me while I was living in Los Angeles for 3 years. Too Many Camp Sertoma stories and taking the horses up on the mountain camping. Joe was in my wedding. Joe and I actually were room mates for 4 months, but that didn't work. We couldn't stand living together. All in all, Joe would do anything for his friends and anything to help people. I will miss Joe and his great and loyal friendship. It pains me that I can not be there for Joe. RIP my friend.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Joe.
He was a one of a kind guy. I had the pleasure of working with him at the Boys and Girls club and Camp Sertoma.
Joes passion was helping kids which he did by using life experiences that encouraged kids to make a diffence by using the cornerstones of Sertoma and the Boys and Girls club.
I'm hope his family and close friends can find solace in that Joes life work made a positive difference in the lives of the many kids he served.
God bless
Brian Quick

So sorry for your loss, Joe was my best friend for over 20 years, we laughed and had some great times together, and fought like brothers. He was the best man in my wedding, my youngest son was named for him ! Although we fell out of touch once I moved out of Binghamton, I always tried to see him when I got back to town. RIP my brother from another mother.
