Wendell A. Gumaer, 94, formerly of Conklin, NY, passed away on January 22, 2019 in Zephyrhills, FL. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years Myrtle Rich, his parents Byrdie Gumaer and Hazel Rought, his brothers Glenn, Eugene and Gerald Gumaer, and his sisters Ella Lance, Irene Lowe, Gladys Lawton, Pearl Gumaer, Ethyl Gumaer, Barbara Ortloff, Helen Price, and Evelyn Andrus. He is survived by his children Kathleen (Michael) Tesla and Daniel (Ruth) Gumaer, 2 grandchilden Brent (Charlene) Tesla and Christopher (Jenna) Tesla, 2 great grandchildren Sophie and Emma Joy Tesla; sister Beverly Brigham and several nieces and nephews. He was a long-time member and trustee of Calvary Baptist Church in Binghamton before moving to Zephyrhills. He became a member of Faith Baptist Church of Zephyrhills, FL. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the City of Binghamton Fire Department after 33 years of service.
