Carol Ann Schmidt Kilmer, 89 of Acworth GA and formerly of Chenango Bridge, NY passed away November 23, 2021. She was predeceased by; her son last month, Jim Kilmer; sister, Bertie Sullivan; Teal Nichols-Dougherty; brother, Edward Hannon. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald; daughter and son-in-law, Diane (Ed) Dunn; one son, Jeff Kilmer; one brother, Bill Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Fran Sullivan and John Dougherty; one sister-in-law, Kathy Hannon; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carol was a loving Christian wife and mother. She was an active member of St. Catherine of Siena which later became St Francis of Assisi in Hillcrest and she volunteered at Catholic Charities and at Lourdes Hospital. She also volunteered for the Campfire Girls and the Boy Scouts. Carol was an estimator for many years at Knox Millwork in Chenango Bridge. She was a talented seamstress and craftsperson. Carol sewed beautiful banners and vestments for St Francis. She created unique craft items including one-of-a-kind dolls which she sold at craft shows under the name “My Favorite Things”. One of her dolls was exhibited with the Hoffman Challenge. She also handcrafted birthday and holiday greeting cards for family and friends. During the pandemic, she sewed hundreds of masks that she gave away to local hospitals and businesses. Carol loved music and was very accomplished on the piano. She was also a gourmet cook and loved to entertain family and friends. The family looked forward to the Christmas cookies, fruitcakes, and gingerbread boys that she made during the holidays.
A Funeral Mass will be offered 11 am Saturday December 4, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi Church 1049 Chenango St. Binghamton, NY 13901 with Fr. Tim Taugher officiating The family will welcome friends at the church from 9:30 am until the time of service, Please NOTE: that all attendees be vaccinated and wear a mask. Condolences may be expressed online at www.SavageFS.com. Burial will be private in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to SAVAGE-Demarco Funeral Service.
