Helen Gleasman Obituary

On the afternoon of January 9, 2022, Helen Marie Gleasman (nee Eck) passed away peacefully after living a beautiful and full life of nearly 87 years.  She was adored by her loving husband, Cayton “Bud” Gleasman, and together, during their fifty-two years of marriage, before his death in 2012, they raised six children.

Helen was admired for her kindness and generosity to others, her beautiful Scottish blue eyes, and her warrior spirit. She faced any adversity in her life with great dignity and faith in God. She enjoyed many years as a homemaker on the family’s grand dairy farm, “Shiloh,” in upstate New York. After the family moved to Monticello, Florida, she returned to the work force to help support her family. She worked as a medical secretary and transcriptionist at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for many years prior to retiring. Helen and her husband were pillars of their community, selflessly volunteering and helping those in need, showing by example what love can do for people. Helen was a treasured wife, a loving and much-loved mother and grandmother, and a loyal friend.

She is survived by her adult children and their spouses who each held a special place in her heart, Mark (Nancy) Gleasman, Laurie (Rick) Hulbert, Wayne Gleasman (Ken May), Christopher (Staci) Gleasman, Andrew (Barbara) Gleasman, and Paul (Evelin) Gleasman. In addition, she is also survived by her four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren whom she cherished.

Helen’s funeral mass will be celebrated on January 29th at 10:00 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kirkwood, NY
