Ida Kenyon Obituary

Ida Mae (Nulton) Kenyon, 91, of Conklin Forks, NY, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Ida was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Marvin Sr., father, Charles Nulton Sr., mother, Dorothy (DeRemer) Nulton, brother Charles Nulton Jr. and sister Delores Griswold.

She is survived by; son, Marvin Jr. (Diana) Kenyon; daughters, Cathy (David) Ritz, and Wendy (Jay) Cummings; grandchildren, Jarin Kenyon, Tara (Dan) Kenyon, Frank (Lizzie) Ritz, Martie Ritz, Thomas (Autumn) Ritz, Connor Cummings and Aaron Cummings; great grandchildren, Leo, Magnolia, Beau, Matthias, Simeon, and baby Ritz, first cousin Beverly Larnerd; many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.

Ida grew up on Ethel St. Binghamton, NY. At the young age of 14 she met the love of her life, Marvin, at the weekly Saturday night dance and from then on, their love story never ended. They dated for five years, movies on Friday night, dance on Saturday and Marvin came to her house almost every evening.  He may have been trying to get away from his many, many siblings, but Ida loved to visit his family home and all the activity.

Ida is a miracle to us all!  At 6 or 7 years old while walking along the river near her home she fell into the freezing water.  A neighborhood dog came near and started barking.  Its owner saw Ida and pulled her to safety.  In 1984, she survived two brain aneurysm surgeries and also, she was a 19-year breast cancer survivor.

Ida started her career as a secretary at Binghamton Metal Company just out of high school.  Later moving on to ANSCO. Marvin was drafted and sent to Panama where Ida followed, having one of their most wonderful adventures and where Marvin Jr. (Butch), was born.  After 14 months, returning from Panama, she became a main stay worker at Frank Strub’s Egg Farm for many years.  She was pleased to then continue her secretary career at Brookside Elementary School 1967-1968. She finally retired, after 16 years of service, as the head secretary of the Placement Office, at Broome Community College.

With retirement Ida and Marvin became avid travelers, enjoying 13 cruises, many trips, some with friends or family, many just two love birds sailing together.  They enjoyed being snowbirds for years traveling to sunnier Florida. Ida was an avid camper, gardener, and loved maintaining her flower garden that she enjoyed looking at from their back porch, a place that both her and Marvin loved. She loved being around her family, friends, church and community.

Raising her three children she was always smiling, kind, devoted, frugal, and organized. She was the heart of the family.   She never missed a sports game, band concert, school, or church event for her children.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all.
