James Edward Kilmer, 68, of Binghamton died October 11, 2021. He is survived by; his parents, Carol Ann and Ronald Kilmer; Brother, Jeff Kilmer; Sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Ed Dunn. He was known to his family and friends as Jimbo. He had a lifelong love of music. Jimbo had a particular passion for the guitar, which he taught himself to play as a teenager. Jimbo with his red Rickenbacker guitar was the lead guitarist in various bands over the years including: Artistry, Burn, The RBT Band, Lost Cause, NFX, Robbing Banks, Tom Egan and the Mojo Boogie Band, and No More Beer for Betty. He also performed with his brother Jeff, who was a drummer. To quote bandmate Tom Egan, “Jimbo was a unique and creative soul and a consummate artist. Sure, he was an incredible musician from a technical perspective, … but what really made him stand out was the transcendent quality of his musical presence in a group. He knew exactly what notes to drop and right where to drop them. He infused our music and our sound with a drive and a passion that created a powerful experience”.
Friends that he made through music were like his family. Some of his most memorable time was spent with friends and family at the cottage at Columbia lake. We will be interred in the family plot at Calvary Cemetery. Please express condolences at www.SavageFS.com. Arrangements were entrusted to SAVAGE-Demarco Funeral Service 338 Conklin Ave Binghamton, NY 13903.
