The family of John Joseph Renne of Endicott, NY is saddened to announce his passing on October 15, 2025 at the age of 86 years, to be forever joined with his beloved wife Marie. John was born on June 28, 1939 in Queens, NY to Cosima and Joseph Renne, and was raised by his father and his stepmother Louise. John was predeceased by his brothers Paul and Luciano, his best friend Steve Zeleznik, and his dog Alex the Pomeranian. He is survived by his daughter Donna, of Poughkeepsie, NY; grandson and his pride and joy Matthew (Shanna) and their son Tyler of New Castle, DE; granddaughter and the light of his life Lisa (Kyle) and their children Charlotte, Allison and Hunter of Kirkwood, NY; sister-in-law Carolyn Sorrentino, and many nieces and nephews. John took great pride in his family. He was a manager at Schapiro’s Uniform in Endicott, NY for many years and was well-liked and respected by his staff. John grew up in Astoria, Queens and liked to fondly reminisce with stories from his youth and about his life-long buddies. He had a wicked sense of humor - when he told a story, you never knew if it was serious or if you were waiting for the punch line. He was an avid reader, enjoyed poetry, biographies, and had a vast knowledge of history and politics. His musical taste ran the gamut from Pavarotti to Simon & Garfunkel to Queen. He liked to watch classic films and share with you the trivia associated with them. John will be dearly missed by family, friends, and all who knew him.
His family would like to thank the kind volunteer staff at Mercy House for their loving care of John in his last weeks. In lieu of a traditional funeral service, the family would appreciate donations to Mercy House, 210 N. McKinley Ave., Endicott, NY 13760. Mercy House is non-profit, what they do is out of the goodness of their hearts; a donation in John’s memory would be appreciated. A special thank you to Peter Savage Funeral Service for their guidance during this difficult time.
