Joseph Slofkosky, 82, passed away peacefully in his home in Binghamton on Saturday, February 8, 2025. He was born in Limerick County, Ireland, on June 24, 1942, as John Joseph Dalton. In 1953, he came to America, where his name was changed to Joseph John Slofkosky.
Joseph was - and always will be - deeply loved by his family, friends, and everyone, fortunate enough to have known him. His sense of humor, carefreeness, open-mindedness, generosity, and playful spirit will be missed beyond words. He had a way of lighting up any room, his presence radiating warmth and joy. With a quick wit and a twinkle in his eye, he could make anyone laugh, leaving behind echoes of happiness wherever he went. He was truly one of a kind. The fond memories of him will never fade, and his Irish and Deaf heritage continue to live on. His Celtic spirit now soars freely over the hills of Ireland, forever a part of the land he cherished. Though he is no longer with us, his love, laughter, and legacy remain. He is, and always will be, cherished.
He was predeceased by his parents, George and Kathleen (Kitty Dalton) Slofkosky; his sister, Colleen Schwabe; and his youngest daughter, Kathryn Slofkosky. He is survived by his beloved family; daughters, Michelle Slofkosky and Anna (Robert) Davies; grandchildren, Revelin, Kareema, Giavanna, Jelani, Monique, and Tarique; great-grandchildren: Riley, Michael, Juliana, Ayla, and Joseph; siblings: Anna Spettigue, Kathleen Friedman, Eileen Slofkosky, Geralyn (Kim) Eaton, Mary Gail (Gary) Wood, and Kevin (Rose) Slofkosky; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Joseph’s love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
