Linda Castner Obituary

Linda M. Castner of Binghamton, New York passed away on April 21, 2023 as a result of metastatic melanoma at the age of 58. She was surrounded by her loving family in her childhood home.  She was predeceased by her father, Gerald P. Castner, grandparents along with aunts, uncles and extended family members.

Linda is survived by her mother Louise (Devers) Castner and her partner, William Decker of Binghamton, NY. Linda is also survived by her siblings; Sharon and Tom Collett of Afton, NY; David and Phyllis Castner of Binghamton, NY and Christine and Felix Anderson of Colchester, VT. Although Linda did not have any children of her own, she cared for and loved her nieces and nephews Emily, Abbey, Caitlin, Erin, Sergeant Gerald Castner, U.S. Army; Paul, Molly, Sadie, Max and Ruby like they were her own children. Her great-nephew Aidan was the absolute light of her life.  Linda is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles and cousins, lifelong friends and kind neighbors.

Linda graduated from Binghamton High School in 1982 and dedicated her career and life to serving others especially the elderly. She worked tirelessly at Ideal Senior Living Center for over 30 years as an activities aide. Linda and the residents made countless quilts, cloth bags, dog toys and just about anything else that could be sewn by machine or by hand. Linda’s favorite holidays were Parade Day and St. Patrick’s Day where she served patrons in the back room at House of Reardon’s. Linda was a very generous and caring person putting the needs of others before her own and will be terribly missed. Our family would like to thank everyone at Lourdes Hospice who helped us make Linda’s last few months of life as comfortable as possible. A special thank you to Steven with Apria Healthcare for your kindness and prompt deliveries and to the Binghamton Fire Department and Lift Assist. Per Linda’s request, there will be no formal funeral services. Please express condolences at www.SavageFS.com. We will celebrate Linda’s life with family and friends in the very near future.
