Luigi (Gino) Paludi, 90, of Binghamton, New York, passed away on April 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on April 2, 1936, in Abruzzi, Italy, Luigi built a life defined by devotion, perseverance, and quiet strength.
On January 24, 1955, he married his beloved wife, Assunta, beginning a partnership that would span more than six decades. The following year, on October 31, 1956, they immigrated to the United States together, settling in Binghamton, where they remained for the rest of his life, building a home, a family, and a legacy that will endure for generations.
Luigi was a longtime member of the local Abruzee Social Club, where he enjoyed playing cards and bocce with friends who, like him, carried the spirit of their Italian hometown with them. The club connected him to his roots and to the community he cherished.
Though he was a man of few words, his well‑timed jokes and sharp observations could light up a room and bring a smile to anyone nearby.
He worked in the construction industry his entire career, rising from general laborer to skilled heavy machine operator. His craftsmanship and dedication can still be seen throughout the community in the projects he helped bring to life.
Luigi is survived by his wife of over 70 years, Assunta Paludi; his sons Carl Paludi (Ann) of Lodi, NY, and Rick Paludi (Candice Leeth) of San Antonio, TX; his grandson Josh Paludi (Julie) of Johnson City, NY; and four great‑grandchildren, Payton, Adriana, Nora & Daniel. He is also survived by his siblings Aldo, Armando, and Isolina, who remain in Italy.
He was predeceased by his siblings Elvisina and Lena, whose memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Though his family grieves his loss, they take comfort in knowing that God has taken him home, where he is reunited with his beloved son Danny and granddaughter Ashley, whose memories he carried with him every day.
His life was a testament to hard work, loyalty, and the quiet but powerful impact of a good man. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory cherished by all who knew him.
