Marvin Kenyon Sr. Obituary

Marvin B. Kenyon Sr., 94, of Conklin Forks, NY, passed away peacefully in this home Sunday, May 11, 2025, surrounded by his children and loving wife of 70 years.  Marvin was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Mable (Brown) Kenyon, 4 sisters (Winnona, Barbara, Doris, and Betty), 9 brothers (Edwin, Carl, Franklin, Fredrick, Robert, William, Richard (Delbert), Charles, Geroge).

He is survived by; his forever love, Ida (Nulton); sister, Patrica Kenyon; son, Marvin Jr. (Diana) Kenyon; daughters, Cathy (David) Ritz, and Wendy (Jay) Cummings; grandchildren, Jarin Kenyon, Tara (Dan) Kenyon, Frank (Lizzie) Ritz, Martie Ritz, Thomas (Autumn) Ritz, Connor Cummings and Aaron Cummings; great grandchildren, Leo, Magnolia, Beau, Mathias, and baby Ritz on the way; many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.

Marvin grew up on Delmar St., Binghamton.  As a young teenager, he started working with his father as a carpenter, helping build-up Binghamton, building many homes and churches throughout the area.  Marvin then worked at Kroehler’s Manufacturing (35 years) on the line building furniture.  During this time, he was drafted into the Army (1956-1958) and stationed at the Panama Canal Zone where his son (Butch) was born. Once out of the Army, Marvin and Ida completed building their beautiful home, in Conklin Forks, where Marvin’s wish was granted and where he peacefully passed.  He completed his career at Universal Instruments (9 years) as a Maintenance Engineer where he finally retired to live out the rest of his life with his loving wife.

Marvin and Ida were avid travelers, enjoying 13 cruises and many trips, some with friends or family, many just two love birds sailing away together.  They enjoyed being snowbirds for years traveling to sunnier Florida where Marvin found an interest in golf. Marvin was a great hunter and fisherman throughout his life, well into his 90s.  He never missed a sports game, band concert, school, or church event for his children.  He supported his community as a volunteer fireman for many years. He was a seriously funny, loving man, that everyone around him loved and laughed with.
