Marvin Richard Schad

 Marvin Richard Schad  July 17 1933  - February 10 2021.  Marvin Schad passed away in Binghamton, his lifelong hometown, from a newly-diagnosed Heart condition, although his health and energy otherwise were very exceptional for a man of 87.  He was predeceased by; two brothers, Sid and Sam; and parents Bessie and Aaron Schad.  He is survived by; partner, Josephine Perez; sisters, Ruth Corueil, Santee California, Muriel Schuerman, Downey California, and Natalie and Helmut Cremer, Toronto; plus nieces, nephews, and greats. Marv spent his life working in Binghamton as a many-talented, hard-working handyman and repairman.  He roofed local houses up until a couple years ago.  His leisure was largely taken up by dancing with his beloved life partner Josephine, at Binghamton’s many delightful venues providing dance floors and bands, even outdoors during covid-19 summer.  Having graduated from Binghamton Central High, Marv served in the Air Force toward the end of the Korean War, stationed in Japan.  After serving his country, Marv went to school to learn refrigeration repair at Alfred Tech, on the GI Bill.  He worked for two years in Long Beach, California before returning to help his father in the family business, buying, selling, and repairing stoves and refrigerators.  Marv loved animals, having sheltered and fed many dozens of feral cats in the neighborhood.  Marv will be missed by friends, customers, and his devastated surviving sisters.

Graveside service will be held 10 am Monday February 15, 2021 at Temple Israel Cemetery 719 Conklin Road Binghamton, NY 13903.  The family asks friends to post condolences and memories online at www.SavageFS.com.
