Jesus welcomed Raymond Alan Swartz into His arms on March 22, 2026, at the age of 82. He was the loving husband of Carol Swartz for 60 years and a resident of Binghamton, NY.
Ray was a proud father to his daughters, Kelly Wilmarth (John) and Kimberly Beukema. He is survived by his grandchildren Johanna Beukema and her daughter Talaea; Gavin Gavazzi and his children, Jazzlynn and Rocko; and Jackson Beukema (Rachael); along with John’s children, Amanda (husband Richard and son Aiden), Danielle (son Lucian and the late daughter Jade), Damian, and Dylan.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Charlotte Swartz. He is survived by his siblings Richard Swartz (Shirley), Sharon (Ken), and Larry (Sue); his in-laws Dawn White (Richard), the late David Parker (Jackie), Gail (Terry), and Daniel (Bonnie); along with many nieces and nephews.
He was also known as “Pop Pop” to many: Equasia, Promise, Sheila, Chanel, Junior, and Sasha.
Ray lived a life rooted in his Christian faith, family, and a willingness to help anyone in need. He accepted Jesus into his heart at the age of 12 and was a member of North Bridge Church in Conklin, NY.
A graduate of Chenango Forks High School, Class of 1964, Ray was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for the Binghamton Housing Authority. He was known for his ability to fix anything and often used those skills to help others. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time tinkering in his shop.
Ray’s life was a testament to his service. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:21
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 27, 2026 at 11:30am at North Bridge Church 1017 Conklin Road Conklin, NY 13748.
