Richard Edwin Fort, 76, of Chenango Forks passed away April 4, 2023. He was born June 1st, 1946 in Union, New Jersey. Preceding his death was his father, Charles Sr. and mother, Lillian. He is survived by his son Matthew, daughter Sara, brother Charles Jr. and sister Jeanette. Richard retired from the United State Postal Service in Endicott, NY. Richard was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Rutgers University (NJ).
Rich was known to those in his life as a kind, caring man, who always made himself available to anyone in need. As a man of faith, he was an active member of the First Church of Christ for many years of his life. An outdoorsman, he loved to fish, camp and enjoy all that the natural world had to offer. He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the International Rescue Committee (IRC), a foundation that represents Richard’s commitment to helping others.
