Robert Dellos Obituary

Robert D. Dellos died peacefully at Mercy House of the Southern Tier in Endicott on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at the age of 67. Robert was born on January 19, 1954.

He was predeceased by his parents Dominick and Vera Dellos, brother Reverend Richard E. Dellos, and brother-in-law Ralph Shafer.

He is survived by his children Dominick and Lucille Dellos, sister Gloria (Dellos) Shafer, nephews Chip Shafer (Susan Wolf), Peter (Lori) Shafer, nieces Kristie Nicolosi (Steven Lagos), Katrina Shafer, Izobel Shafer, Eva Nicolosi, Celia Shafer, along with many cousins and friends.

Robert "Bobby" will be remembered as a genuinely kind and outgoing personality who was often the funniest person in the room. As a gifted storyteller, he relished any opportunity to make someone laugh.

Bobby was a graduate of Seton High School in Endicott, class of 1972. He went on to attend Broome Community College in Binghamton, NY, Wadhams Hall Seminary College in Ogdensburg, NY, and St. Bernard's Seminary in Rochester, NY.

Bobby worked as an Employment Counselor for Broome County where he enjoyed helping others in their search for work and retired after 32 years of service. He also chauffeured limousines for Serafini Transportation. Bobby's first job was as a paperboy, where he developed a love for newspapers, and would continue to read them daily.

Bobby grew up on the Northside of Endicott and was extremely proud of his Italian heritage. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, was the founder of the Men's Association for Growth in Italian Culture (M.A.G.I.C.), and one of his favorite hobbies was bottling his own homemade wine. Other interests he took pleasure in included listening to classic and smooth R&B music, dancing, washing and shining up his car, and talking politics.

Bobby was a knowledgeable sports fan and stats enthusiast. He was a passionate fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Mets, and a strong supporter of local Binghamton sports teams.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the many healthcare workers and aides who took care of Bobby over the past two years, especially Sue and her team at Reasons Home of Open Hearts.

A funeral mass will be held for Bobby on Wednesday, June 9th at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Endicott. The family will receive friends at the church at 10 a.m.
