Robert G. Geranis

Robert G. Geranis, 77, of Binghamton passed away on September 29, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert K. and Robyn Geranis; his grandchildren, Robert C. Geranis and Daniel N. Geranis; his brother, Rodney K. Geranis; his cousins Linda Sleeper, Gary Rice, Fran Volosevich and Barbara Robinson. He was preceded by his mother, Romayne; his father Robert H. Geranis, his father-in-law, Harold K. Brown; his uncle and aunt George Jr. and Irma Rice; his aunt Phyllis Bernadini; and his grandparents George Sr. And Edith Rice.  He graduated from North High in 1963 and joined the Navy in 1964. Following boot camp at the US Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois, he was assigned to the USS Wasp where he maintained and repaired flight deck lighting. During his time on the Wasp, the aircraft carrier was the primary recovery vessel for the Gemini space program. He witnessed recovery of Gemini missions 4, 6, 7, 9 and 12.  After his military service, he returned to Binghamton and joined AC Spear Electric. He later became a Master Electrician who specialized in wiring for large-scale motors, fuel pumping systems and lumber kilns.
The Services are private with full military honors with Rev. Elizabeth Ewing officiating. Please express condolences online at www.SavageFS.com.
