Rosina Catanese, 79, of Endicott, NY passed away on April 14, 2026. Affectionately known as Rose, she was born in Jamaica, Queens on April 6, 1947 to her beloved parents, Sebastiano and Maria Grandi. She is survived by; her devoted husband of 58 years, Pasquale; children, Elizabeth Waite (Leland), Joseph (Lisa), and Paul (Lynn); grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie Enos (Ryan), Christina, and Andrew; and great-grandchild, Lily Rose.
Following high school, she worked as a hairdresser. Later, she worked at numerous hospitals and nursing homes. Remarkably, at 51 she earned a degree in Health Information Technology which ultimately led to her becoming Director of Medical Records at Willow Point Nursing Home.
Rose focused her tremendous passion for family and home towards creating a beautiful oasis where everyone could relax and enjoy each other’s company. Laughter, telling stories, sharing celebrations and holidays - she was the heart of the home. She adored her grandchildren, participating in their lives, and watching them grow into adults. In the summertime - her favorite season - the backyard became the center of activity for hanging out around the pool, barbecuing, sharing meals on the deck, and playing games late into the night.
Rose enjoyed reading, crafts, and lunches with her friends, as well as board games, cards, and dominoes. She had a bright, playful spirit and could spontaneously transform the everyday into the extraordinary. A love for travel with her husband inspired trips to Hawaii, Aruba, and Italy; their shared passion for the open road meant they were often in the car exploring. One particularly momentous adventure - “the big road trip” - was a cherished experience that led them to all corners of the country, and dozens of National Parks. Stunned by Muir Woods, she often spoke of her profound sense of awe in the majestic presence of the giant sequoias.
