Shirley Jean Tangredi, 81, Pittsford, NY, passed away December 2, 2022, at Willow Point Nursing Center in Vestal, NY. After struggling with dementia for the last eight years, Shirley is finally at peace. Shirley was born in Altoona, PA. to Dorothy & Gilbert Ciambotti, at age 5 Dorothy died and she was raised her father and his wife, Sophie (Garbacz). She grew up in Juniata, PA, and graduated from Altoona High School. Shirley is preceded in death by; her husband, Robert F. Tangredi (1988); and son-in-law Mark Blank (2020). Shirley is survived by; her son, Robert A. (Erin) Tangredi; daughter, Theresa Tangredi-Blank; Brother, Jeffery T (Tracie) Ciambotti; four grandchildren, Robert Thomas Tangredi, Mark Anthony Blank, Michael Karle Tangredi, and Emily Rose Blank, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Andrew & Carol Tyukody; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley graduated with a B.S. in Nursing from St. Michael Hospital School of Nursing in Newark, NJ, where she met her husband, who attended the Newark College of Engineering. Robert F. & Shirley Tangredi married in 1962, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Newark, NJ the relocated in 1964 to Fairport then Pittsford. Shirley worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years then ten years teaching and certifying medical assistants at Bryant & Stratton in Rochester, NY finishing as a Research Professional supporting new drug trials. Shirley was past President and very active board member of the New York State Association of Medical Assistants. Shirley was a devoted Catholic and member of the Church of Transfiguration in Pittsford, NY. The family greatly appreciates the warmth and attention provided by the West Wing Staff at Willow Pt.
Funeral Mass will be offered 10 AM Wed., December 21,, 2022 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Endicott, NY. Interment with her husband will be private in White Haven Cemetery, Fairport, NY.
