Svetlana Sverdlova, 85, of Binghamton, NY, was born on September 25, 1939, and passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025. Svetlana was preceded in death by her husband Oleg Vaynman, and is survived by her daughter Inna Kholod, her only daughter who she loved and cherished; her grandchildren Nicholas, Sophia and Anastasia Kholod; her sister Maya Plotkin; her niece Natalya Balnova; her best friend Alla Sirotenko; her close friends who she cared deeply about; her many nieces and nephews; and all of her other family members and loved ones.
Svetlana was a strong, caring woman who was loved by her many family members. She was like sunshine, making everyone’s day brighter and anyone that was a part of her life felt her warmth and light when they were in her presence. She took care of her family and did everything for them, always putting them above everything else. Svetlana was a very sociable person and loved to visit her friends and family whenever she could. She loved to cook and bake for her loved ones. She loved to travel with her late husband and friends, and loved going to museums and theatres as well, immersing herself in culture. Svetlana immigrated with her family to Bronx, NY in 1993 and spent her final years living in Binghamton, closer to her family.
A celebration of life was held for her on May 23, 2025, and many of her loved ones came to celebrate her and say goodbye. Her family loves her very much, and her memory will remain forever.
