William Stark Sr. Obituary

 

William H. Stark Sr., affectionately known as “Bad A.S.S. Billy”, of Binghamton/Chenango Forks, passed away on February 3, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on August 1943, he was raised by his late parents, Carlton and Beulah Stark, in a family of 8 children. Bill had 2 deceased brothers, Roy and David Stark, and 5 sisters—Carly and Bonnie, who have also passed away, and 3 living sisters: Diane Smith, Judy Stark, and Pat Parker.

Bill was born and raised in  Binghamton, NY. His first job was as a paper boy, but he later dedicated his life to working as an ironworker for local unions 158 and 160. His legacy includes constructing numerous bridges in the Binghamton area, as well as contributing to the construction of the Binghamton Arena and the state building. In 1968, Bill found the love of his life, Evelyn (Grier) Stark, and they exchanged vows on May 12, 1972. Together, they raised 8 children. Bill’s enduring love for Evelyn lasted 52 years until his passing. He is survived by his devoted wife, Evelyn Stark, and their children: Christopher Stark (Tracy) Paula Stark, William Stark Jr., Timothy Stark (Savannah) Carl Stark (Norma Jean) Sheri Johnson (Walter) James Stewart (Amanda) Micheal Stewart (Billiejo). Additionally, Bill leaves behind several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.

Bill loved his Westerns, particularly those featuring John Wayne (known as “Duke”) and Clint Eastwood (famously recognized as “Josey Wales”). He was also an avid fan of NASCAR racing, following the careers of Jimmy Johnson and the late Dale Earnhardt Sr. Bill had a passion for old fords and the new Dodge trucks.

Bill’s absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
