Betty Carr

VESTAL - Betty M. Carr, 87, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Willow Point Nursing Home, where she had been a resident.  

Born in Hornell, NY on January 25, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Mary Mess Cilono.  In May 1945, she was married in Hornell to Myrton P Carr, who predeceased her on May 14, 1987, after 42 years of marriage.  Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by three sisters, Marion Cairone, Helen C. Smith and Rose A. Moore; two brothers, Robert C. Myers and Freddie Cilono.  She is survived by her children Jeffrey Carr and Becky (Doug) McKane; a sister, Elsie Cabral; a brother Thomas (Sammie) Cilono; two grandchildren; a niece Heidi Cabral; and several other nieces, nephews, great nephews and one great niece.

Betty had a wonderful sense of humor and was a creative, witty writer as was evident in the poems, short stories and newsletters she produced over the years.  She brought joy to many who read her words.  She was a voracious reader, always enjoyed a game of Scrabble, and tackling crossword and jigsaw puzzles.  She gave freely of herself and loved her family and friends.
