THE LAST ROSE by Betty Carr, written when my father passed. I pray mom and dad are now reunited. She'll be in my heart always and forever.
With petals tightly folded
The bashful rosebud shied.
Deep crimson blush enfolding,
What it held inside.
The velvet petals opened,
Revealing its surprise.
Two hearts pressed close together,
A wonder for my eyes.
Eleven days it held its own,
Before its pleasure done.
And in the wilting process,
The two hearts merged as one.
A single deep red rosebud,
To hold the memory of,
The time we spent together,
God's messenger of love.

Becky, not sure if you remember me but I lived next door to your family on Garfield St. In Waverly. I always remembered your family & how nice your Mother was to me. I just happened to be eating at a restaurant in Owego on 10/31/15 & found a Binghamton newspaper there with your Mom's obit. I wanted to write to you or Jeff but couldn't find addresses. If you read this could you send me an email? I have always wondered what happened to you all. I am a retired RN with a son in Fuquay Varina NC (he works in Cary) & a daughter who lives in Ga. I still live in Waverly. My condolences on the loss of your beloved Mother.

With the one year anniversary approaching I was out of mom's page and saw your message. Apologies for such a delayed response. I do remember you and it was so nice of you to reach out. My husband and I (no children) live in Florida now where we plan to retire soon.
